(Of course, tips below won't help if your wooden floor has been flooded!)
With the arrival of Autumn going into Winter, your wooden floor is constantly "battered" with wet shoes and wellies, dripping coats and umbrellas.
Protection against moist damage from long term additional exposure to this onslaught is rather easily done - easier than having to repair/replace damaged boards/floors anyway.
- if possible, place wet shoes and wellies on a none-absorbent surface. Or if that is not possible, remove the material you use frequently to prevent moist stains underneath
- moist clean your floor regular with suitable products, it only takes a few minutes to wipe off any mud and water spillage to prevent the moist staying on and damaging the wood. Don't use just water, it will make your floor look dull and tired.
- make sure the surface of your wooden floor has a protective moist repellent layer, which can be created with wax or wax-polish. A protective surface like this will sustain drips and moist much longer than a floor which hasn't been maintained.
Due to this ongoing wet weather we've renamed our Winter Floor Care-set: Wet Winter Floor Care-set ;-) This set contains everything you need to keep your wooden floor protected: wash-care, wax-polish, polishing pads and a polish applicator.
As said above, these tips won't help much if your floor/property has been flooded. But for everyone else it makes sense to prepare your wooden floor for wet and windy weather, so take action now and protect it.
